When we are born into the world, we intuitively know that we have a finite set of years to share with other beings. The more we recognize that fact the more we appreciate those we share the planet with. I believe that if we had eternal life we may take others for granted because we may feel that we have all the time in the world to take care of other people's needs. Worse than that, knowing you may live for eternity may cause some people to become ruthless and mean toward one another because they have forever to create new relationships so existing ones won't be important to nurture. Simply put having a limited time on earth causes us to really appreciate who and what we have. Ask anyone who was recently diagnosis with a terminal disease like cancer or AIDS.
If someone discovered a formula to make us live forever i think that would be a curse because I wouldn't like to live forever. Some people wait on there time to go to heaven because they want to reunite with family or friends. I wouldn't want to live forever in this life where there is so many bad things happening.
In my opinion it would be a curse. On the other hand, if you take it does that mean you can still be murdered? Because I'm pretty sure that when people say that they wish they can live forever, that requires not being murdered. My reason that it would be a curse is because some people get to the point where they are so run down from everything in life that they are just done. Also, it does not mention that your body will still be fit and in tact. Just because your brain is alive forever, does not mean that your body will still be in good shape forever. That could lead to a bunch of injuries, and all types of medical issues the older you get. That is my reason that it is a curse.
A curse... because most of us wan't to just live this life & get over with it and go to heaven where there is no pain ever, and happiness forever.
ReplyDeleteA curse... because if everyone lives then the world will get crowded
